Tiles are two-sided, with puzzles often involving travel on both sides. These alter the appearance of tiles, dangers and background effects, but have no effect on gameplay. The game includes four visual themes: Original, Modern, Nature and Underwater. Though puzzles have no time limit, rapidly depixelating tiles and collecting flowers increases the player's score and multiplier, with an additional bonus added for depixelating all tiles.

Levels start with all tiles pixelated, which revert to full detail once the player's ball nears them. To assist in planning and avoid accidental failures, the camera can be rotated around the ball, and a free-camera mode allows viewing of the entire puzzle. Gravity is always downwards relative to the ball, with the level rotating around the ball as it moves moving off a tile into an empty space causes the ball to fall downwards, failing the level if there are no more tiles below. The player controls a ball by rolling or jumping, though movement is constrained to forward, back, left or right there is also no air control or cancelling movement. Each puzzle level is made up of square tiles, connected in flat layers, at angles, or free-standing. GameplayĬollecting all the sunflowers in a puzzle activates the exit portal, which must then be reached to complete the puzzle. Puzzle Dimension runs on the Traktor engine, which is Doctor Entertainment AB's in-house engine.
